Replacement of Acid Pickling:
- Replaces the complete process of acid pickling through the application of rust inhibitor or phosphate coating in one step.
- In one-step dipping process (any oil on the surface has to be removed separately), removes rust, mill scale, heat-treat scale, conditions/pickles and provides a conductive conversion coating (protective coating).
- Prepares a rust and contamination free surface.
- Air dry provides a very long term indoor rust protection (in terms of years depending on the environmental condition of that area).
- Also, the coating allows welding (with no weld spatter) and finishing.
Replacement for Chromate Conversion Coating:
- Completely replaces the chromate conversion coating process for preparing aluminum and galvanized steel for finishing.
- In one-step dipping or spraying process (any oil on the surface has to be removed separately), removes white rust from the surface and provides a conversion coating
- Prepares a rust and contamination free surface.
- Rinse with regular water (no chemical sealer) and oven dry before finishing.
- Provides excellent bonding with the top coating.
- In manual brushing process, no rinsing is needed and the part is air-dried.
Liquid Paint, Powder Coating:
- At 125ºF will remove flash rust, white rust, weld and laser scale completely while providing the conversion coating & seal.
- After oven drying, there will be a brownish color on the cold rolled steel which is a part of the coating.
- For aluminum, galvanized steel & stainless steel there will be no color change and therefore they can be clear coated.

Enhancement For Welding:
- Completely prepares the metal surface by removing mill oil, cutting fluid and flash rust
- Applies a conversion coating which allows welding to be performed through the coating
- Increases weld strength considerably on steel
- Does not cause hydrogen embrittlement and so the chances of weld failure is almost zero
- There has been zero welding failure since 1998 (no re-work, saving a lot of labor, time & cost)
- Acts as an anti-spatter agent, saving labor & time
- Spraying Picklex® 20 on the welding area provides a very long-term indoor rust protection
- Provides much better adhesion of the welding area with the top coating
Replacement for Phosphate Coating:
- Completely replaces the phosphate pre-treatment process for preparing cold rolled steel (or sandblasted steel) for finishing.
- In one-step dipping or spraying process (any oil on the surface has to be removed separately), surface rust, weld scale, laser scale is removed
- Provides a conversion coating (prepares a rust/contamination free surface).
- Rinse with regular water (no chemical sealer) and oven dry before finishing.
- Provides excellent bonding with the top coating.
- In manual brushing process, no rinsing is needed and the part is air-dried.
De-scaling Hot Rolled Steel or Heat Treated Metal:
- For de-scaling heat treated metal or hot rolled steel, dip in Picklex® at 130 - 140 deg F.
- The chemical should be kept clean by proper filtering system to remove the rust and scale particles completely.
- There will be no sludge, waste disposal or waste treatment from this process.
- Also there is no concentration adjustment needed.
